The Con Brio Children's Choir is comprised of Central Ohio singers, grades preschool through twelve, who attend various public and private schools throughout Central Ohio. Founded in 2004, by Artistic Director Emily DePaul Gil, Con Brio was granted 501 (c)(3) status in the fall of 2005 and currently has 110 singers enrolled in the program.

Admission to the choir is based on interest, enthusiasm and commitment. Our program is grounded in the philosophy that it is our job to help each chorister reach their fullest potential in musical understanding and performance. This is achieved by offering an enriching program with the highest musical, vocal and artistic goals. Each singer's individual abilities are taken into consideration when choosing literature, planning instruction as well as placing students strategically within the various ensembles to maximize the learning environment.
No child with a passion for singing will ever be turned away.

Con Brio was created with the family in mind. Our rehearsal and performance schedule is limited because we understand that children have varied interests. We strive to make participation in Con Brio manageable for students and parents. For this reason, Con Brio rehearsals are structured to maximize the use of our time, but always carried out with a sense of fun and spirit of joy.

In an effort to fulfill their mission of enhancing the cultural life of their communities through performance, the choirs perform annual concerts at Worthington United Methodist Church in Worthington and have been invited to sing at the Ohio State House Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony, Worthington's Martin Luther King Day Celebration, the annual Columbus Parent Expos, Bridge ot the Future Summer Institute and the Ohio Choral Director's Association 2005 Professional Conference. In the summer of 2006 Con Brio's touring Choir,
Vivace, traveled to Chicago in the summer of 2008 and to Washington DC and Philadelphia with the Cincinnati Children's Choir to celebrate the anniversary of Benjamin Franklin's 300th Birthday at the 2006 National Festival of the States.

We welcome the opportunity for area teachers and interested families to become better acquainted with our program. Please feel free to sit in on any of our Thursday rehearsals at Slate Hill Elementary School and/or attend any of our remaining concerts.

Con Brio is a tuition-based program that offers generous financial assistance to families in need. For more information or to schedule a "placement interview," call the Con Brio office at 614-315-6312.

The Italian musical term “con brio” means to sing or play “with spirit.”
When you hear the children of Con Brio sing, you will understand exactly why that name was chosen!
